LESTER WATERS

In the tradition of coffin folk-artists Sultan Rogers and Son Thomas comes these lidded shrines by Lester Waters. These replicas of 19th century "toe-pincher" coffins, and boxed shrines contain a portrait and a tribute to the dcarly departed musician. They can be made to order for anyone you like, as long as a suitable photograph is available for the portrait. Lester's roots are in Louisianna but he now resides in Prescott,Az, where he's become an artist and craftsman since retiring from the carpentry trade several years ago. He has always had a passion for building and design and since finding our gallery, he's been inspired to try his hand at art. We're pleased with what he's brought us and we plan to put him together with other artists in the future for collaborative coffin masterpieces.

Some lids are elaborately beaded with mardi gras beads and make a stunning statement when placed on a side table of coffee table, or you can place them on the wall as they arrive "ready to hang." Aidan Rose is currently contributing portraits to these shrines.
