TIMM RYE

Talented Timm Rye was born in Michigan in 1969 and works with abused and neglected children. He's always cultivated a love of both art and the soulful R &B music of the late 60's, including Earth Wind and Fire and Stevie Wonder. He discovered the blues in 1983, when he first heard the raw sounds of Stevie Ray Vaughn and proceeded to dig deeper into the roots of the music. His discovery of this vastly rich African American culture has led him to discover his own artistic talent, which is expressed through these wonderful creations.

Roosevelt "Grey Ghost" Williams 21" X 22" on wood cabinet door $325 SOLD

This painting is of Roosevelt “Grey Ghost” Williams.  He was an interesting character.   He played the “chitlin’ circuit”, hobo’d his way from gig to gig.  He would wear a suit on the empty boxcars.. but wore overalls over the suit, so as not to get it dirty.  When he got off the train, he would hide his overalls in the woods, walk in to the club dressed to the 9’s and then promptly leave upon payment for his services.  He would go right back to the hiding place in the woods, put his overalls on and wait for the next train, (never sitting around and socializing after the show).   Someone once asked him, how he got the nick name, “Grey Ghost”… he said that he comes up out of the ground, plays his show…then goes back into the ground.”…
